Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney in Corpus Christi, TX to join their consumer bankruptcy practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in bankruptcy law, creditor representation, and civil litigation, and will be comfortable managing cases independently.

Duties

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 7, 11, and 13 matters.
  • Handle creditor representation in bankruptcy and related litigation.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings and motions.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
  • Manage case files from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and court personnel.
  • Negotiate settlements and payment arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with the State Bar in Texas.
  • 2 years of experience in bankruptcy law or related practice areas preferred.
  • Experience appearing in court and handling hearings independently.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license with the State Bar in Texas.

Skills

  • Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software preferred.
  • Familiarity with FDCPA and consumer protection laws.
  • Trial or contested hearing experience is a plus.
