Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Austin, TX, to manage account liquidations and collaborate with the collections department. This role involves handling civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, ensuring high-quality legal representation while maintaining professionalism and respect for all parties involved.

Duties

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of civil litigation and collection actions.
  • Represent clients and the firm in legal proceedings, including hearings and trials.
  • Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel and debtors for case resolutions.
  • Provide expert analysis on legal and regulatory risks.
  • Travel to various courts within the state as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records using case management software.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Texas law license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably in collections.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and case management software.
  • Highly organized and motivated to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Texas law license for 2+ years.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Google Suite or MS Office and case management software.
  • Background in post-judgment collection and asset recovery preferred.
