Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Environmental Associate Attorney to join their Environmental Practice Group in San Francisco, California. This role involves supporting a wide range of regulatory, litigation, and administrative matters within the environmental sector.

Duties

  • Provide regulatory analysis and practical advice across air, water, and soil media.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of major environmental laws such as CERCLA, CAA, CWA, RCRA, and TSCA.
  • Advise clients across federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, with a focus on California.
  • Engage in litigation and administrative proceedings, including drafting briefs and handling meetings.
  • Show interest or experience in climate and carbon matters, including California programs and carbon credit transactions.
  • Conduct transactional environmental due diligence.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant environmental law experience in regulatory counseling and/or disputes.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters.
  • Team-oriented mindset and eagerness to learn from leading practitioners.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to and a member in good standing of the bar in the jurisdiction of the office location.
