Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Trial Attorney in Columbia, SC, to join their personal injury team. This position involves representing clients across South Carolina and requires an active South Carolina Bar license in good standing. The ideal candidate will possess strong courtroom skills, proven litigation experience, and a dedication to client service, managing cases from filing through trial.

Duties

  • Represent clients in personal injury cases from initial litigation through settlement or verdict.
  • Draft and file litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Handle mediations, hearings, and trial proceedings, including jury selection, opening/closing statements, and examinations.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and litigation support staff for thorough case preparation.

Requirements

  • Active membership in the South Carolina Bar, in good standing.
  • Ideally 1+ years of litigation/trial experience in personal injury or related areas, but open to training those with less experience.
  • Strong negotiation, advocacy, and courtroom skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

Skills

  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
