Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated associate to join its Bankruptcy, Insolvency, and Creditors Rights practice in Charlotte, NC. This role offers the opportunity to engage in complex restructurings, insolvencies, and commercial disputes, representing both national and international clients across various industries.

Duties

  • Represent clients in Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, and commercial disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda for federal bankruptcy court.
  • Support senior attorneys on sophisticated transactions.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and negotiations.
  • Manage caseload efficiently while meeting deadlines.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the North Carolina Bar or eligibility to waive in.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in creditor-side bankruptcy, restructuring, or commercial litigation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable handling depositions and court appearances.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal rules of procedure.
  • Ability to work with various attorneys and staff, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Prior bankruptcy clerkship experience is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the North Carolina Bar or eligibility to waive in.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Comfortable with depositions and court appearances.
