A law firm seeks a dynamic and experienced mid- to senior-level Employee Benefits Attorney to join its team in Rochester, NY. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex employee benefits matters, including ERISA, retirement, welfare, and fringe benefit plans. The ideal candidate will have between 4 to 10 years of experience in this field and possess a strong understanding of the design, administration, and compliance of various employee benefits programs. Duties:

  • Advise clients on the design, administration, and compliance of employee benefit plans, including retirement, welfare, and fringe benefits.
  • Provide expert guidance on ERISA compliance, regulations, and other employee benefits laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employee benefit plan documents and related agreements.
  • Handle complex legal issues and provide solutions for clients concerning their employee benefits programs.
  • Assist in managing client relationships and maintaining proactive communication regarding updates to employee benefits law.
  • Research employee benefits laws and regulations, staying current with changes and their implications for clients.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure the integration of employee benefits legal strategies into broader business goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient plan design and operational procedures.

Requirements:

  • 4 to 10 years of experience in employee benefits law, with a focus on ERISA and compliance issues.
  • Strong knowledge of retirement, welfare, and fringe benefit plans.
  • Proven ability to provide legal counsel on employee benefit matters and navigate regulatory challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex legal information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong client service skills, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in New York or eligibility for admission.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York (or eligible to apply for admission).

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits laws, including compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and reviewing employee benefits plan documents.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills to interpret complex employee benefits regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle a high volume of work.
