Insurance Defense Attorney - Hybrid/Remote

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a civil litigation attorney to join its New York City, NY team. This position offers a hybrid/remote work arrangement. The firm is recognized for its successful representation in cases involving automotive and trucking negligence, medical malpractice, toxic torts, work-related accidents, and general liability. The firm also specializes in combating healthcare and insurance fraud.

Duties

• Manage cases from inception to resolution, handling all aspects.
• Draft pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other documents.
• Record and disseminate client information.
• Summarize medical records and highlight key information.
• Write client reports summarizing case status and next steps.
• Identify, research, and analyze legal issues and opinions.
• Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, and argue motions.
• Attend in-person and virtual court appearances.
• Provide legal representation in complex and high exposure litigation.
• Explain litigation processes to clients unfamiliar with them.
• Move cases toward cost-effective, efficient, and fair resolutions.
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines professionally.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in civil litigation: automobile negligence or premises liability.
• Experience with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and complex assignments.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Good judgment and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage a large caseload and day-to-day tasks.
• Strong desire to learn and grow in the legal profession.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Experience billing for time.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
