A law firm seeks a Junior Associate Attorney in Los Angeles, CA. This role supports the firm's litigation practice, focusing on California employment law matters. The position involves assisting with all phases of litigation, including legal research, drafting, discovery, and motion practice, under the supervision of senior attorneys. The Junior Associate will engage in substantive client interaction, court appearances, and take on increasing responsibilities as proficiency develops.

Duties

  • Conduct in-depth legal research on employment and procedural issues.
  • Draft and revise pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Prepare mediation briefs, trial briefs, and pre-trial filings.
  • Draft, review, and respond to written discovery.
  • Summarize depositions and analyze evidence.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case updates.
  • Appear in court, mediations, and depositions as required.
  • Manage a portfolio of employment law cases.
  • Coordinate with paralegals and support staff for file management.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership (or pending admission) with the California State Bar.
  • 0-2 years of relevant litigation or employment law experience preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with discovery processes and California civil procedure.
  • Proficiency with Lexis+ AI, Westlaw, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership (or pending admission) with the California State Bar.
