Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate attorney with three to seven years of experience in employment law and litigation to join their Labor and Employment Practice in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience counseling clients on employment-related decisions and developing compliant employment policies and procedures.

Duties

  • Counsel clients on employment-related decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain employment policies and procedures.
  • Handle claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Manage DOL audits and EEOC charges.
  • Defend investigations and prepare position statements.
  • Represent clients in mediations and conciliations.
  • Negotiate settlements and draft responsive pleadings.
  • Handle all aspects of the discovery process.
  • Draft motions, including motions for summary judgment.
  • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Three to seven years of employment law experience.
  • Experience with higher education or public-sector clients preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

Education

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
