Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Data Privacy Associate to support its expanding data privacy and security practice, preferably based in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position involves advising clients on privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and data governance in both transactional and regulatory contexts.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate data privacy and security provisions in commercial agreements.
  • Work on vendor, SaaS, licensing, and other technology-related contracts.
  • Advise on privacy compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support development of privacy programs and product-related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on transactional privacy matters.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Assist with data breach response matters as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Interest or experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or technology transactions.
  • Experience with commercial contracts and privacy compliance issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to participate in business development activities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, or Washington, DC.
  • CIPP certification preferred.
