Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its Employee Benefits and ERISA practice in Roseland, NJ. This role involves advising employers, plan sponsors, and fiduciaries on retirement plans and employee benefit programs, with additional exposure to estate planning and tax matters. The position may be structured at the Senior Counsel or Partner level based on experience and business development capabilities.

Duties

  • Advise clients on ERISA compliance, fiduciary duties, and prohibited transactions.
  • Design, draft, amend, and terminate qualified retirement plans.
  • Prepare and review Form 5500 filings and coordinate with third-party administrators.
  • Represent clients in IRS, Department of Labor, and PBGC audits.
  • Counsel clients on health and welfare plan compliance.
  • Support M&A transactions on employee benefit matters.
  • Advise on executive compensation arrangements.
  • Assist with estate planning and trust administration.
  • Provide support on tax-related matters and audits.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients.
  • Support and contribute to business development efforts.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Manage multiple matters and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar, in good standing.
  • 8+ years of legal experience focused on ERISA or employee benefits.
  • Experience independently managing matters and advising clients.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a client-focused approach.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar.
