Business Litigation Associate

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Business Litigation Associate to join its expanding team in Wilmington, Delaware. This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of complex litigation matters, providing meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and significant opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Duties

• Assist with all phases of complex civil litigation from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy.
• Manage and coordinate discovery, including e-discovery.
• Participate in depositions, court appearances, mediations, and hearings.
• Work collaboratively with partners and clients on litigation strategy.
• Handle sensitive and high-exposure matters with professionalism and attention to detail.

Requirements

• J.D. degree with strong academic credentials.
• Minimum of 3 years of primarily defense civil litigation experience.
• Admission to the Delaware Bar required.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience handling discovery and e-discovery processes.
• Comfortable with courtroom appearances and witness depositions.
• Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering excellent client service.
• Writing sample required.
• Law school transcripts required for candidates who graduated within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Admission to the Maryland and/or Washington D.C. Bar is a plus.
• Willingness to seek admission in additional jurisdictions preferred.
• MBA or business-related degree is a plus.
• Commercial bankruptcy experience is a plus.
• Prior experience with billable time management or willingness to develop those skills.

Education

• J.D. degree required.

Certifications
