A law firm in Southern California seeks a Family Law Attorney with 3-5 years of substantive litigation experience focused on sensitive domestic matters. This role involves active courtroom engagement and provides the opportunity to manage various cases in a dynamic, client-focused environment. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise and a passion for advocating for families during life’s most complex transitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appear in court to represent clients in family-related legal proceedings, including custody disputes, divorce matters, and support modifications.

  • Manage a caseload of family law files from inception through resolution with minimal supervision.

  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, develop legal strategies, and keep them informed throughout the legal process.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, declarations, and settlement agreements with precision and strategic foresight.

  • Participate in mediation sessions and negotiations with opposing counsel to achieve favorable outcomes.

  • Collaborate with legal assistants and other team members to maintain deadlines and ensure timely filings.

  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes to state laws and procedural rules affecting domestic relations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least 3 years and up to 5 years of hands-on experience handling family law matters, including court appearances.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage contested cases involving custody, visitation, and asset division.

  • Proficiency in preparing for and conducting hearings and trials in family law courts.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, especially in high-stakes or emotionally charged situations.

  • Adept at working independently, while also thriving in a team-oriented legal setting.

  • Strong organizational habits and the ability to juggle multiple active files.

  • Currently licensed to practice law in California and be in good standing with the State Bar.

Education & Certification

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.

  • Active California Bar membership required.

  • Any additional training in mediation or family law specialization is a plus, but not mandatory.
