Job Overview

A law firm seeks an International Trade Group Associate for its New York, NY office. The role involves advising clients on regulatory aspects of investments and trade due diligence, with a focus on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and managing legal teams across EMEA and LATAM regions.

Duties

  • Advise clients on regulatory aspects of inbound and outbound investments.
  • Assist with trade due diligence in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
  • Counsel on trade-related restructuring to mitigate U.S. duties and tariffs.
  • Advise on sanctions risks related to business activities in Russia and Ukraine.
  • Apply transactional and contract law expertise to foreign direct investment considerations.
  • Support clients in the space sector with global satellite system projects.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.M degree from a U.S. law school.
  • Two years' experience in legal guidance on cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience with U.S., EU, and Ukrainian sanctions laws.
  • Experience managing cross-border legal teams in EMEA and LATAM regions.
  • Experience advising on cross-border M&A transactions and regulatory due diligence.
  • Experience advising on export control and technology transfer.
  • Experience supporting clients in the space sector with ITU regulations.
  • Licensed to practice law in New York or Washington, D.C.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.M degree from a U.S. law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in New York or Washington, D.C.

Skills

  • Expertise in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
  • Knowledge of U.S., EU, and Ukrainian sanctions laws.
  • Ability to manage cross-border legal teams.
  • Proficiency in advising on export control and technology transfer.
  • Experience with global satellite system projects and ITU regulations.
