Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join its Virginia practice. This role involves handling all aspects of workers' compensation defense litigation and providing strategic legal analysis to clients. The position is remote, offering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of workers' compensation defense litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, and appeals.
  • Provide strategic legal analysis and case evaluations to employers, insurers, and third-party administrators.
  • Prepare and present cases before Deputy Commissioners.
  • Draft persuasive motions, briefs, and settlement evaluations.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, recommendations, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure efficient and effective case management.

Requirements

  • JD degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active license in good standing in Virginia; Washington D.C. and/or Maryland license preferred.
  • 2-5 years of direct workers' compensation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ProLaw, Excel, and e-document management software preferred.
  • Must be a self-motivated independent thinker with excellent time management skills, strong organizational skills, and outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.

Education

  • JD degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications

  • Active license in good standing in Virginia; Washington D.C. and/or Maryland license preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ProLaw, Excel, and e-document management software.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
