Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-to-senior level associate to join its International Trade and Customs Practice in Washington, DC. The associate will support partners in handling trade policy, customs compliance, and trade remedies litigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Duties

  • Draft briefs, submissions, and advocacy materials for trade remedy and policy matters.
  • Support antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings.
  • Assist with customs issues, including tariff classification and import compliance.
  • Conduct trade compliance reviews and client risk assessments.
  • Perform legal and factual research on statutes, regulations, and trade data.
  • Develop factual narratives and litigation strategies.
  • Manage workstreams, timelines, and client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, economists, and clients.

Requirements

  • Experience as a mid-to-senior level associate in international trade or related fields.
  • Background in trade remedy litigation or customs matters.
  • Strong drafting and litigation skills.
  • Ability to handle complex factual and legal issues.
  • Client-service orientation and strategic judgment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active DC bar admission.

Skills

  • Excellent writing and advocacy skills.
  • Comfort with administrative records and agency deadlines.
  • Ability to explain trade concepts in practical terms.
  • Interest in building a long-term practice.
