Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated Social Security Disability Attorney to join their team in North Carolina. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. The position is open to various office locations, including Durham, Greensboro, Wilmington, and Winston-Salem, NC.

Duties

  • Handle a caseload of Social Security disability cases from initial stages through hearings.
  • Guide and assist paralegals with their Social Security disability caseloads.
  • Engage in extensive client interaction, including intake review and ongoing communications.
  • Read and summarize medical records for case preparation.
  • Prepare briefs and requests for on-the-record decisions.
  • Prepare clients for hearings and represent them before Administrative Law Judges.
  • Conduct opening and closing statements and cross-examine vocational witnesses.

Requirements

  • Licensed in any state and in good standing with the State Bar.
  • Two or more years of experience in Social Security Disability Law.
  • Advanced analytical and strong writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and assume significant responsibility.
  • Understanding of Social Security regulations, POMS, HALLEX, and related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Bar Membership required.
