Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Special Counsel to join its Technology, Communications, and Media practice in Washington, DC. This role involves leading wireless regulatory and spectrum matters, advising on FCC strategies, and supporting client growth in mobility and infrastructure sectors.

Duties

  • Lead and manage wireless regulatory and spectrum matters for major clients.
  • Advise on FCC regulatory strategy, compliance obligations, and emerging wireless policy trends.
  • Prepare, review, and supervise high-level submissions and filings before federal agencies.
  • Serve as a senior resource to clients, supporting continuity and strategic growth.
  • Mentor associates and shape team structure and training.
  • Support business development initiatives in wireless and adjacent technology sectors.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to support client and practice-wide objectives.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in wireless regulatory and spectrum matters.
  • Ability to independently manage complex regulatory matters before the FCC.
  • Proven ability to engage directly with major clients on strategic matters.
  • Experience supervising teams and managing multifaceted workloads.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Professionalism in client and colleague interactions.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and balance competing responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience required.

Education

  • JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted or eligible for admission in the District of Columbia.

Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.
