Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm in Birmingham, AL, is seeking an Associate Attorney to focus on collection and litigation cases. The ideal candidate will manage a high-volume caseload, exhibit strong written and oral advocacy skills, and demonstrate analytical expertise. This role offers an opportunity to handle diverse legal matters while working in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Duties

  • Manage breach of contract and collection litigation cases from demand to judgment.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, both in person and telephonically.
  • Draft and argue motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment.
  • Maintain a caseload in alignment with client expectations and timelines.
  • Address urgent and complex legal issues as needed.
  • Contribute to special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Alabama.
  • Experience with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) and Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) is advantageous.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Active membership and good standing with the Alabama State Bar.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent research capabilities using both legal and non-legal sources.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a large volume of cases.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
