A law firm seeks a talented Associate Attorney to join its Washington, D.C., office. This role blends complex commercial and regulatory litigation with cutting-edge public interest advocacy across issues such as civil rights, reproductive justice, and immigrant rights.

Duties

  • Lead and support high-stakes litigation in areas including commercial disputes, internal investigations, securities/regulatory matters, and employment discrimination

  • Conduct factual and legal research; draft motions, briefs, and client correspondence

  • Participate in all phases of discovery, including document review, depositions, and evidentiary hearings

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on white-collar defense and internal investigation projects

  • Advocate on behalf of public interest clients in areas such as gender and racial equity, LGBTQ+ rights, religious freedom, democracy protection, and immigrant rights

  • Mentor junior staff and coordinate with operations teams to ensure seamless case management

Requirements

  • Litigation or public interest experience at a law firm, federal clerkship, or relevant nonprofit/advocacy organization

  • Exceptional academic credentials and strong endorsements or clerkship experience

  • Proven ability to manage complex matters independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to advancing public interest causes alongside commercial litigation practice

  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the start date

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing of the D.C. Bar (or eligibility for DC admission)

Skills

  • Advanced legal research and analytical reasoning

  • Strong drafting and oral advocacy capabilities

  • Ability to distill complex legal issues for diverse audiences

  • Proven organizational and case-management proficiency

  • Passion for public interest and civil rights work alongside commercial litigation expertise
