Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent with expertise in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering for its Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent prosecution and litigation, with a focus on electrical engineering, software, or mechanical engineering.

Duties

• Draft and prosecute patent applications.
• Collaborate with clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Support litigation teams in patent disputes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience.
• Experience with thermodynamics, electro-mechanical products, and/or HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of other intellectual property forms is advantageous.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
• Registered with the USPTO.

Education

• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Certifications

• USPTO registration.
