Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Data Privacy Associate in Charlotte, North Carolina, to support its expanding data privacy and security practice. This role involves advising on privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and data governance matters, focusing on regulatory counseling, product and program development, and drafting and negotiating technology and commercial agreements for diverse clients.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate data privacy and security provisions in commercial agreements.
  • Address privacy compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on transactional privacy matters.
  • Monitor developments in data privacy laws and regulations affecting commercial transactions.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law or eligible for licensure in NC, SC, GA, or DC.
  • Interest or experience in data privacy, technology, or commercial contracts.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • CIPP designation(s) preferred.

Skills

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple matters collaboratively.
  • Willingness to participate in business development, including speaking engagements.
