Job Title: Employment Law Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:

A respected law firm located in Charleston, SC, is looking to expand its team with an associate attorney focused on employment law and related litigation. This position is ideal for legal professionals with at least one year of experience in defense litigation or a judicial clerkship background. The role offers opportunities to engage in complex matters across multiple practice areas, including employment and labor disputes, commercial litigation, and municipal legal matters.

Duties:

  • Manage a variety of litigation matters with a focus on employment-related disputes

  • Draft and argue motions in both federal and state courts

  • Interpret and apply procedural rules across jurisdictions

  • Conduct legal research, prepare case strategies, and evaluate risks

  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas, including commercial litigation and premises liability

  • Support client counseling and dispute resolution efforts

  • Engage in discovery, depositions, and case preparation for trial

  • Handle matters involving municipal or governmental legal issues when applicable

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant litigation experience or judicial clerkship at the trial or appellate level

  • Familiarity with federal and state procedural rules

  • Strong foundation in legal research and writing

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines and caseloads

  • South Carolina Bar admission preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • South Carolina licensure strongly preferred or eligibility for admission
