Job Overview
A law firm seeks a junior to mid-level Patent Prosecution Associate with a background in mechanical or aerospace engineering to join their team in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have one to three years of patent prosecution experience at the USPTO or in a law firm setting.

Duties

  • Conduct patent prosecution and counseling.
  • Collaborate with a team of patent strategists and litigators.
  • Advise clients on intellectual property portfolio management.

 

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Minimum of two years of legal practice experience.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.

 

Education

  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications

  • Admitted to and in good standing with the relevant bar.
  • PTO registration preferred.

 

Skills

  • Experience as a patent examiner preferred.
  • Industry experience is a plus.
