A law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney in Manhattan, NY, to manage a diverse caseload of special education matters. The role involves representing parents of children with disabilities in administrative proceedings and appeals.

Duties

• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and concerns.
• Draft notices, affidavits, complaints, and examination questions for hearings.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel.
• Represent clients at administrative proceedings, conducting examinations.
• Draft opening statements and closing briefs.
• Conduct legal research and draft stipulations of settlement.
• Prepare appeals to the Office of State Review.
• Manage paralegals and administrative staff in pre- and post-litigation tasks.

Requirements

• Litigation experience from inception through resolution.
• Strong interest in special education law.
• Excellent organization, writing, and communication skills.
• Motivated self-starter and resourceful.
• Highly organized and deadline-oriented.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York State.
