Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Labor Associate for its Melville, NY location. The role focuses on traditional labor relations, providing advice and counsel to employers on federal and New York workplace laws. The position involves representing management in various labor-related matters and requires a proactive approach to developing business-oriented solutions.

Duties

• Handle unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
• Conduct research and writing tasks.
• Represent management in NLRB elections.
• Advise employers on union organizing and corporate campaigns.
• Negotiate and advise on collective bargaining agreements.
• Manage grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings.
• Obtain mass picketing injunctions.
• Review handbooks and policies for legal compliance.
• Conduct management training on labor relations and workplace issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school.
• 2+ years of traditional labor law experience preferred.
• NY Bar Admission.
• Understanding of current state and federal agency enforcement techniques preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills

• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
• Willingness to travel for business purposes.
