Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Business Law Attorney with a Construction Focus to support the legal needs of construction industry clients in Grandview, OH. The ideal candidate will possess strong business transactional experience and a working knowledge of legal issues commonly faced in the construction lifecycle, from formation and financing to project management and contract negotiation.

Duties

  • Serve as trusted counsel to construction-related businesses on entity formation, ownership structuring, and corporate governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including AIA documents, development agreements, and vendor/subcontractor terms.
  • Advise clients on business transactions including asset purchases, joint ventures, and buy-sell agreements.
  • Counsel clients on risk mitigation strategies, employment matters, insurance and bonding requirements, and dispute resolution.
  • Support clients with licensing, regulatory compliance, and lien and payment enforcement procedures.
  • Collaborate with litigation, real estate, and finance attorneys when construction projects touch multiple practice areas.
  • Assist with succession planning and business transition strategies for closely held construction businesses.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in Ohio.
  • 4+ years of experience in business law or commercial transactions.
  • Construction industry knowledge or prior work with construction-related clients preferred.
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Team player with a business-minded approach to client service.
  • Excellent communication, client management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio.
