A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly qualified Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished academic record, extensive experience in real estate finance law within a large law firm, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The role requires experience in managing complex commercial real estate finance transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity, as well as proficiency in running transactions from inception through closing and post-closing, including secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage real estate finance transactions from start to finish, including inception, closing, and post-closing stages.
  • Oversee loan origination for complex commercial real estate finance transactions, focusing on mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
  • Provide legal expertise in asset management and workout scenarios.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate detailed legal documents related to real estate finance transactions.
  • Work closely with clients, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective and successful transaction execution.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and offer strategic advice on real estate finance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and firm policies throughout the transaction process.
  • Assist in secondary market repurchase facility work and develop other exit strategies as necessary.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of broad real estate finance experience, ideally in a large law firm environment.
  • Proven experience in managing large structured commercial real estate finance transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
  • Experience in asset management and workout scenarios is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle transactions on behalf of lenders, including secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Education and Certifications

  • JD from an accredited law school required.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Washington, DC.
