Duties

• Draft original petitions, answers, pleas in intervention, and counterclaims.
• Prepare written discovery requests and responses.
• Conduct and defend oral depositions.
• Draft and argue motions, responses, and replies.
• Assist with complex non-party discovery disputes.
• Advise clients on legal rights and options.
• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Handle cases primarily in Harris County, TX, with potential federal court involvement.

Requirements

• License to practice law in Texas.
• 2-3+ years of litigation experience in Texas, with at least 2 years in civil litigation.
• Experience managing non-lawyer staff and mentoring attorneys.

Education

• J.D. required.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Texas.
• Member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, MS Outlook, and MS Teams.
• Familiarity with MS SharePoint and MS OneDrive is beneficial.
• Ability to learn and master unique software and systems.
• Skillful use of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Lexis+ Protg.
