Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level Private Wealth Services Associate to join its New York office. The role involves advising high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, and closely held business owners on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, and related tax matters.

Duties

  • Advise clients on estate and tax planning strategies, including gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters.
  • Structure and implement sophisticated estate plans, including wills, trusts, and family limited partnerships.
  • Counsel clients on wealth preservation, business succession planning, and philanthropic planning.
  • Assist with estate and trust administration, including post-mortem tax planning.
  • Work on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional planning matters where applicable.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across corporate, tax, and real estate practices to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Participate in client development and maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in trusts and estates/private wealth services at a leading firm.
  • Strong background in estate planning and wealth transfer strategies for high-net-worth individuals.
  • Experience drafting complex estate planning documents independently.
  • Exposure to estate and trust administration is preferred.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong writing/analytical skills.
  • Admission to the New York Bar (or ability to waive in).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York Bar.
