Senior Associate, Real Estate Funds

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a senior associate for their Real Estate Funds team in New York. The ideal candidate will have over six years of experience in structuring, forming, and managing real estate funds, including co-investment vehicles. They will work closely with partners and lead teams in fundraising activities, representing fund sponsors and investors in legal and regulatory matters.

Duties

• Represent real estate fund sponsors in fund formation and investor negotiations.
• Advise on the structuring and management of open-end and closed-end real estate funds.
• Lead teams during fundraising processes for real estate funds.
• Draft, review, and negotiate fund offering documents and partnership agreements.
• Conduct legal research and analyze regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, investors, and service providers for fund closings.
• Prepare and review disclosure documents and investor communications.
• Identify and resolve legal issues related to fund operations and management.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting real estate funds.
• Use AI technologies responsibly to enhance drafting and legal research.
• Collaborate with colleagues in tax, real estate, finance, and regulatory practices.
• Supervise junior team members and assist partners in maintaining client relationships.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law in New York.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a global law firm focusing on real estate funds.
• Experience with open-end and closed-end fund structures.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex legal documents.
• Proficiency in using AI technologies responsibly.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to lead and mentor junior associates.

Education
