Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Attorney with at least 2 years of experience to join their patent prosecution practice in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry or a related field and will support patent application processes both domestically and internationally.

Duties

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and international patent offices.
  • Support due diligence activities related to patent matters.
  • Manage and meet internal and client-driven deadlines.
  • Collaborate with multiple partners and clients on various assignments.

Requirements

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Patent Bar eligible and, if applicable, licensed to practice law in the respective state.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Master's Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry, organic chemistry, applied chemistry, polymer science, polymer engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.

Certifications

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
