Associate Attorney (Commercial/Property Team)

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Atlanta, GA, with 2-5 years of experience to assist with coverage, monitoring, and defense matters. The role involves working closely with partners through all phases of litigated and non-litigated disputes, including claims investigation, case evaluation, discovery, depositions, trial preparation, alternative dispute resolution, and appeals. Candidates must have strong research and writing skills and be admitted to practice in Georgia.

Duties

• Represent insurance carriers and their insureds in complex litigation matters.
• Analyze insurance policies and prepare coverage opinions and legal memoranda.
• Manage litigation from claim investigation through resolution, including strategy development.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations and arbitrations.
• Assist with trial preparation and case strategy.
• Communicate directly with insurer clients regarding case developments and legal strategy.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or clerkship.
• Litigation experience preferably involving insurance coverage issues.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Superb interpersonal skills.
• Must be admitted to practice in the state of Georgia.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in Georgia.
