Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Construction Attorney to join their team in Rocky Hill, CT. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction law, handling a broad range of disputes and transactional matters. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to manage matters independently from inception to resolution.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related contracts and agreements.
  • Handle mechanic's liens and bond claims, including performance and payment bond issues.
  • Manage claims involving changed conditions, unforeseen site conditions, and scope disputes.
  • Represent clients in disputes involving wrongful termination, abandonment, and delay.
  • Address claims related to defective plans, specifications, and design issues.
  • Assist clients with bid protests and procurement-related disputes.
  • Advise clients throughout construction projects to mitigate risk and resolve disputes.
  • Manage deadlines, filings, and procedural requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through strategic guidance and adherence to guidelines.
  • Accurately record and maintain billable hours while meeting all deadlines.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice in the State of New York is required; admission in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction law.
  • Experience with construction contract drafting and review.
  • Proven experience handling mechanic's liens, bond claims, and construction-related disputes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating with team members.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the State Bar of New York.

Skills
