Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Commercial Litigation Associate in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in handling insurance coverage disputes within the commercial insurance sector. This role involves representing clients in various insurance coverage matters and participating in all phases of complex commercial litigation.

Duties

  • Review and analyze commercial insurance policies and claim files.
  • Draft insurance coverage evaluations and position letters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis for coverage evaluations and litigation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload.
  • Collaborate with partners on complex litigation matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and other parties involved in litigation.
  • Participate in strategy discussions and case planning.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Admission to the state bar corresponding to the office location and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and productively.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding judgment and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Commitment to the local community.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
