Job Title: Mid-Level Cyber/Data/Privacy Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Chicago is seeking a mid-level attorney focusing on litigation and regulatory enforcement investigations related to privacy and data security matters. The ideal candidate will have experience handling cases involving consumer protection issues, data privacy, and security class actions. This is an opportunity to work with a dynamic, expanding team of over 30 attorneys across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, offering significant career growth and leadership opportunities.

Duties:

  • Handle litigation and regulatory enforcement investigations related to privacy and data security matters
  • Defend clients in cases involving data privacy, security class actions, and consumer protection issues
  • Engage directly with clients and lead significant projects or cases
  • Work on cases involving the Stored Communications Act, wiretapping claims, and unfair and deceptive trade practices
  • Collaborate with a global team of legal professionals

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection and privacy/security issues
  • Proficiency in handling regulatory agency investigations (e.g., State AG, FTC)
  • Experience defending data breach class actions and claims related to unfair and deceptive trade practices
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and interact with clients directly

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a nationally recognized law school
  • High academic achievement

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar (Illinois or eligibility for admission)

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of privacy and data security regulations
  • Tech fluency and ability to work on tech-related legal matters
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills
  • Impeccable writing and communication abilities
