Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Family Law Associate Attorney in Chicago, IL. This role offers substantial client responsibility and courtroom exposure, contributing to the firm's growth in the family law sector. The successful candidate will join a high-performing, growth-oriented practice.

Duties

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody, and support.
  • Manage a full caseload from intake through final resolution.
  • Develop and implement strategic case plans tailored to each matter.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda.
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Negotiate settlements and manage case progression effectively.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure timely movement of matters.
  • Provide clear, professional communication throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support workflow and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing in Texas (additional jurisdictions a plus).
  • 1-3 years of family law or comparable litigation experience required.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and a high level of accountability.
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Professional judgment and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in contributing to a growing, performance-driven practice.
  • Fluency in Spanish very desirable.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed and in good standing in Texas.

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Professional judgment and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
