Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced litigation attorney to join its team in Scranton, PA. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage a diverse range of litigation matters from inception through resolution, collaborating with a dedicated team of attorneys and support staff.

Duties

  • Manage all phases of litigation, including case assessment, strategy development, and trial preparation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands/responses, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and attend court conferences and hearings.
  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues to provide clients with practical advice.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and colleagues.
  • Assist with high-stakes matters while independently managing assigned cases.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania bar admission in good standing.
  • 3-5 years of substantive litigation experience in state and/or federal court.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Professional presence, sound judgment, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience handling depositions, mediations, or trials.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery tools and litigation management software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Pennsylvania bar admission in good standing.
