Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Construction Litigation Attorney to join its Litigation Practice Group in Grandview, OH. The attorney will represent commercial construction companies, developers, contractors, and other industry stakeholders in disputes involving construction defects, payment claims, mechanics' liens, bond claims, and more.

Duties

  • Represent clients in all phases of construction-related litigation, including pre-suit counseling, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediations, and trials.
  • Draft and negotiate construction-related agreements such as subcontracts, change orders, and general contractor agreements.
  • Advise clients on contract performance, risk management, insurance coverage, and lien law.
  • Analyze construction schedules, change order documentation, and delay claims.
  • Work with expert witnesses on technical matters related to construction.
  • Develop and execute case strategies while maintaining strong communication with clients.
  • Participate in business development efforts to grow the construction litigation practice.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys across the firm in transactional, real estate, and business matters that intersect with construction.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Ohio bar license (or ability to waive in).
  • 5+ years of relevant construction litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Ohio's construction law statutes and court procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of lien and bond rights, insurance issues, and risk-shifting provisions.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with ability to manage complex cases.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Ohio bar license (or ability to waive in).
