Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Agent/Advisor with expertise in software and artificial intelligence to join their Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have a degree in software, computer science, or a related field and will contribute to a dynamic patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation practice.

Duties

  • Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
  • Analyze patent and scientific documents to assist attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Advise lawyers on technology issues in preparation for depositions.

Requirements

  • Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Broad scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning strongly preferred.
  • Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others.
  • Eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

Education

  • Degree in software, computer science, or a related field.

Certifications

  • Meet requirements for registration as a patent agent.
