A law firm seeks a Counsel-level attorney to join its esteemed and expanding Securities Enforcement practice group. This role involves representing a diverse range of clients, including corporations, financial market participants, and individuals, in regulatory enforcement matters and high-stakes investigations. The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal issues in a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Duties

  • Represent clients in regulatory enforcement matters involving the SEC, DOJ, PCAOB, and other government entities.
  • Handle cases related to public company financial reporting, disclosure, and auditor liability.
  • Provide counsel to broker-dealers, registered investment advisers, and other securities market participants.
  • Participate in audit committee and internal investigations, providing strategic legal advice.
  • Serve as the Independent Compliance Consultant or Monitor in regulatory resolutions with the SEC and DOJ.
  • Prepare persuasive legal documents, including memoranda, motions, and briefs, tailored to complex securities enforcement issues.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and cross-functional teams to ensure effective representation and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 5–6 years of post-J.D. experience in securities enforcement and related matters.
  • Proven track record of representing clients in enforcement proceedings before the SEC, DOJ, and similar regulators.
  • Exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage significant case responsibilities while collaborating effectively with a dynamic team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized and accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in securities laws and regulations.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex matters simultaneously.
