A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to enhance their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics and demonstrate strong capabilities in patent application preparation and prosecution. With a minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience, the candidate should have technical expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, including preparing and amending claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.
  • Conduct detailed technical evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Perform prior art searches and assess the patentability of inventions.
  • Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop and implement effective patent strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on intellectual property issues such as patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.
  • Prepare and review patent-related documents and correspondence.
  • Monitor developments in patent laws and technical advancements to provide up-to-date advice.
  • Offer technical support during patent litigation and other intellectual property disputes.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple patent prosecution projects to ensure timely and efficient outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • Technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Strong skills in patent application preparation and prosecution.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.

Certifications:

  • Registration with the USPTO is required.
