Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its Public Law Practice Group in Bainbridge, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in municipal law and a commitment to providing exceptional legal services to a diverse client base.

Duties

  • Provide interpretation and advice on municipal law, education law, SEQR, code enforcement, land use, and zoning.
  • Represent municipal clients at various board meetings.
  • Draft and review local laws, resolutions, policies, procedures, and contracts.
  • Defend municipal clients in litigation and claims, including Article 78 proceedings.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
  • Prosecute code enforcement cases, including building and zoning code violations.

Requirements

  • Current New York Bar admission.
  • 3+ years of experience in Public Law preferred.
  • Desire to develop and further legal skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in New York State.

  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Skillful in managing situations requiring diplomacy and sound judgment.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication.
