Job Overview

A law firm seeks a civil litigation attorney to join their New York City team. This hybrid/remote position involves representing clients in cases related to automotive and trucking negligence, medical malpractice, toxic torts, and general liability. The firm is recognized for its successful defense against healthcare and insurance fraud.

Duties

• Manage cases from inception to resolution, handling all aspects.
• Draft pleadings, correspondence, and memoranda.
• Summarize medical records and highlight key information.
• Write client reports summarizing case status and next steps.
• Research and analyze legal issues and opinions.
• Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, and argue motions.
• Attend in-person and virtual court appearances.
• Provide legal representation in complex and high exposure litigation.
• Explain litigation processes to clients.
• Ensure cost-effective and fair case resolutions.
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines professionally.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in civil litigation: automobile negligence or premises liability.
• Experience with depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Good judgment and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage a large caseload and day-to-day tasks.
• Desire to learn and grow in the legal profession.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Experience billing for time.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
