Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Innovation Counsel to join their Practice Innovation team in San Francisco. This role involves advancing practice-specific initiatives to maximize the value of innovation technologies and practices. The position requires collaboration with practice group leadership and other teams to drive best practices in leveraging legal technology.

Duties

  • Provide attorney-level input on legal technology adoption initiatives.
  • Design playbooks for best practices in innovation technologies.
  • Organize presentations, status reports, and executive briefings.
  • Collaborate with leadership on initiative prioritization processes.
  • Develop objectives and success metrics for technology adoption.
  • Analyze practice group workflows to identify improvement areas.
  • Drive legal technology pilots and continuous improvements.
  • Assist change management teams in developing communication campaigns.
  • Maintain practice group-specific resources and automate efforts.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of applicable experience in legal practice or technology adoption.
  • Active bar membership or registered in-house counsel status.
  • Experience in cross-functional projects involving legal technology.
  • Understanding of large law firm financial and work allocation processes.

Education

  • Juris Doctor or non-US equivalent.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing of the bar(s) in applicable jurisdictions.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and firm applications.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve legal service delivery problems.
  • Experience with distributed systems and large law technologies.
  • Ability to leverage data for insights and storytelling.
