Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Innovation Counsel to join their Practice Innovation team in Washington, DC. The role involves advancing practice-specific initiatives to maximize the value of innovation technologies and practices. The Innovation Counsel will collaborate with various teams to drive best practices and introduce new tools and processes.

Duties

  • Support legal technology adoption initiatives impacting practice groups.
  • Design and prepare playbooks for best practices in innovation technologies.
  • Organize presentations, status reports, and executive briefings.
  • Collaborate with leadership on initiative prioritization and value communication.
  • Develop objectives, success metrics, and timelines for technology adoption.
  • Analyze practice group workflows to identify improvement areas.
  • Drive legal technology pilots and continuous improvements.
  • Assist change management teams in developing communication campaigns.
  • Maintain practice group-specific resources and automate efforts.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • 4+ years of applicable experience in legal practice or technology adoption.
  • Active bar membership or registered in-house counsel status.
  • Experience in cross-functional projects involving legal technology teams.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate or non-US equivalent.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing of the bar(s) in applicable jurisdictions.

Skills

  • Strong presentation skills and experience with varied audiences.
  • Experience with core large law technologies and generative AI solutions.
  • Ability to leverage data for insights and storytelling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
