Job Overview: A highly reputable law firm is seeking a Mergers & Acquisitions Associate with 6-8 years of experience to join their M&A team. The role involves working on complex and high-profile transactions, primarily in the technology and life sciences sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading M&A deals, drafting transaction agreements, managing client relationships, and overseeing the work of junior associates. The role is focused exclusively on mergers and acquisitions, offering an opportunity to work on cutting-edge strategic transactions.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Lead M&A transactions, including public and private company deals
  • Draft and negotiate definitive transaction agreements
  • Supervise and mentor junior M&A associates
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts throughout the transaction process
  • Manage client relationships and provide strategic legal guidance
  • Lead negotiations with transaction counterparties
  • Oversee all aspects of strategic transactions from inception to completion

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions or strategic transactions
  • Proven experience as a lead associate on M&A transactions
  • Strong background in drafting and negotiating transaction agreements
  • Experience managing and supervising junior associates
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex negotiations and manage client relationships

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Bar of the state where the candidate will be based (New York, California, or Washington) or eligibility for admission
