Professional Liability Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Professional Liability Attorney with over three years of litigation experience to join their Professional Liability Practice Group in Hackensack, New Jersey. The candidate will manage sophisticated professional liability matters and collaborate with a diverse team representing various professionals and businesses.

Duties

• Independently manage all phases of professional liability litigation from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Attend and advocate at court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and other proceedings.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Handle matters involving professional negligence, malpractice, errors and omissions claims, and other complex liability disputes.
• Manage discovery, motion practice, expert witness coordination, and case deadlines in both state and federal courts.
• Collaborate with partners and clients to provide strategic guidance and achieve favorable outcomes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience.
• Admission to practice in New Jersey required; New York admission is a plus.
• Experience handling matters in state and federal court.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and representing clients in mediations and arbitrations.
• Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities.
• Ability to independently manage an active caseload and prioritize competing deadlines.
• Experience in professional liability, legal malpractice, insurance defense, or complex commercial litigation is preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Bar in New Jersey; New York admission is a plus.
