Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Private Client International Tax and Estate Planning Associate / Senior Associate to join their team in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in international tax and estate planning, with a focus on advising high-net-worth international families and their businesses.

Duties

  • Advise on international tax matters and cross-border planning strategies.
  • Develop sophisticated estate planning and tax-efficient restructuring solutions.
  • Manage complex international planning matters independently.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas.
  • Provide practical, business-oriented advice to clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in international tax and estate planning.
  • Strong technical expertise and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Member in good standing in the jurisdiction of practice.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Proficiency in foreign grantor and nongrantor trust planning.
  • Experience with pre-immigration and expatriation planning.
  • Knowledge of international income tax matters, including CFCs and PFICs.
  • Ability to plan for U.S. real estate investments by non-U.S. persons.
  • Understanding of tax compliance and reporting obligations for cross-border interests.
