Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Public Litigation Attorney to join its Public Law practice in Red Bank, NJ. This position offers the opportunity to manage complex municipal and civil cases while advising government entities and collaborating with a team of experienced attorneys.

Duties

  • Lead all phases of public litigation cases, including pre-suit investigations, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and briefs in compliance with court rules.
  • Advise municipalities, boards of education, and government officials on legal rights and obligations.
  • Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior partners and clients.
  • Manage prerogative writ proceedings from petition through oral argument.
  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Mentor and oversee associates, providing substantive feedback.
  • Research and monitor legislative developments affecting clients.
  • Maintain detailed case files and client communications.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey; New York admission a plus.
  • 5+ years of civil litigation experience, including at least two years in public law.
  • Experience drafting high-quality pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs.
  • Proven ability to manage associates and multiple active cases.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal, education, and administrative law.

Education

  • Juris Doctoral degree from an accredited school of law.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in New Jersey; New York admission a plus.

Skills

  • Exceptional research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret complex statutes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to procedural details.
  • Proficiency in LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Microsoft Office Suite.
